The highly anticipated, yet-to-be titled, Amazon Original web series on The Lord of the Rings books has booked a release date. The highly anticipated show will premiere on Friday, 2nd September 2022 and while we have to wait for about an entire year to watch it, we at least can now begin the countdown, especially all those, like us, who've dearly missed watching new installments of the LOTS and Hobbit franchise. Another major update about Amazon Prime's LOTR web series is the final leg of shooting for season one was wrapped up today, 3rd August, in New Zealand.
The new epic fantasy-drama brings to screens, for the very first time, celebrate author J.R.R. Tolkien's fabled second age of Middle-Earth's history. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-Earth.
Headlining this ensemble cast are Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz C rdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
The series is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay; they are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Bel n Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado, co-executive producer Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Br ndstr m, and producer Christopher Newman.

A world-renowned literary work, and winner of the International Fantasy Award and Prometheus Hall of Fame Award, The Lord of the Rings was named Amazon customers' favorite book of the millennium in 1999 and Britain's best-loved novel of all time in BBC's The Big Read in 2003. The Lord of the Rings books has been translated into around 40 languages and has sold more than 150 million copies.
